Who will feed the hungry?

In 1983 faith based groups in St. Joseph asked,
"Who will feed the hungry?"
Under the leadership of Mary Cargill,
the Open Door Food Kitchen
became a reality in June 1984.

The first meals were served in rented space
at the Salvation Army.
Twenty-five (25) meals were served in the first hour.
In 1985 more space was needed.
A facility at 510 Edmond was leased.
In 1990 the expansion was completed
with the purchase of 510 and 512 Edmond
which is our present location.
